Identifying and Handling Fake Buyer Scams – Encore

1. What to Look For

Requests for Off-Platform Transactions: Buyers encouraging communication or transactions through external apps (PayPal, Venmo, text messaging, etc.).
Requests for Personal Information (Critical): Attempts to obtain your phone number, email address, shipping details, or other sensitive information.
Unsolicited Requests for Item Photos: Buyers asking for additional photos of items, potentially to misuse or misrepresent your products.
Impersonation of Encore Staff: Scammers may pretend to be Encore representatives through emails, texts, or in-app messages to steal your personal or financial information.

Keep All Communications On-Platform: Conduct all conversations and transactions exclusively within Encore.
Verify Encore Communications: All official emails will come from the @buyencore.com domain. Encore will NEVER ask for payment details via email or direct message.
Report Suspicious Behavior: Use Encore’s in-app reporting feature to flag suspicious users or activity.
Protect Your Personal Information: Never share your phone number, email, payment details, or any sensitive data with buyers.
Document Suspicious Interactions: Save screenshots of unusual messages or requests for future reference.
Contact Encore Support: Immediately report any concerning behavior to Encore Support for review.

Off-Platform Payment Requests: Buyers may suggest using external payment apps to bypass Encore, claiming it's faster or more convenient.
Fake Payment Confirmations: Scammers may send fraudulent payment screenshots to falsely confirm transactions.
Shipping Address Manipulation: Requests to change the shipping address after payment or providing suspicious shipping instructions.
Impersonation Scams: Scammers may pretend to be Encore representatives, asking for account details or payment information. Encore will never contact you through other users.
Romance/Relationship Scams: Scammers may build trust through personal conversations before asking for money or personal information.
Sharing Personal Contact Information: Scammers may share phone numbers and ask you to text them for further discussion or to send more item photos.
Requests for Additional Item Photos: Requests for extra item photos may be used to impersonate sellers or create fraudulent listings.

Use Encore’s Payment System Exclusively: This ensures all transactions are secure and protected.
Avoid Clicking Unknown Links: Do not click on external links shared by buyers unless verified by Encore.
Trust Your Judgment: If something seems unusual or suspicious, take time to review and report it.
Verify Encore Communications: Encore emails will only come from @buyencore.com.
